Studying the opening phrasing and tone for my own work on the concerto.
What I noticed
The way Perlman lets the opening phrase breathe — the long notes aren't rushed. The shifts are seamless.
Favourite moment
The return of the opening theme after the central section.
Interpretation notes
Less vibrato than I expected on the long notes. The tone carries through stillness.

What I noticed
The tone in the slow movement is incredibly even. The control in the fast passages is something I aspire to.
